Celebrate Grand Opening of Discovery Trail at Retzer Nature Center on Friday, June 24th
Waukesha County Park System invites residents and visitors to come celebrate the completion of Phase 2 of the Discovery Trail Project at Retzer Nature Center on Wednesday, June 22 at 4:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony and pollinator activities. Retzer Nature Center is located at S14 W28167 Madison St. in Waukesha.
“We are grateful for the generous donations from the Friends of Retzer Nature Center and the Waukesha Rotary Club to allow for the revitalization and expansion of this trail,” said Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow. “The new ‘Exploration Station’ features are educational and allow people of all abilities and levels of mobility to have access into nature.”
This multi-phase project refreshed the original ‘Adventure Trail’ with reconstruction of the accessible path with expanded connection to the accessible boardwalk. Additions also include a gateway feature, a stone seat wall gathering space, exploration stations including insect, wood, animal tracks, and eagle nest, as well as a habitat free-play area, boulder scramble, and native plant observation areas.
