Vernon Charter Ordinance 2020-01 adopted on September 3, 2020, established current elected officials to serve in “at large capacity” (serving the entire Village, not assigned wards or districts of the Village) In 2021, the Village President and Trustee #2 and Trustee #4, will be elected to a two-year term and Trustee #1 and Trustee #3 will be elected to a one-year term, and then after their one-year term those same positions (Trustees #1 and Trustee #3) will run for a two-year term.
If there are multiple candidates for the elected positions there will be a primary on February 16, 2021, and the General Election will be April 6, 2021. Nomination paperwork is available at the Village Hall, on the Village website villageofvernonwi.org or on the Wisconsin Election Commission’s website at elections.wi.gov.
Candidates can begin circulating their nomination paperwork beginning December 1, 2020. You will need a minimum of 20/maximum of 100 Village of Vernon residents’ signatures to be placed on the ballot. You will also need to file a Declaration of Candidacy form and a Campaign Registration Statement in the Village of Vernon Clerk’s Office by 5:00pm on January 5, 2021.
